Mancini’s men looked set to win with
ease against rivals Ajax until officials ruled Sergio Aguero’s second goal as
offside and denied a penalty plea from Mario Balotelli after the striker
received an unfair challenge from Ricardo van Rhijn.
Tension ignited at the pitch when
Mancini angrily confronted match officials and criticized them for their
controversial decisions. The disarray, which included a row against the pitch
cameraman, led the manager to receive an improper conduct charge from UEFA with
penalties including a fine and a one-match touchline ban.
