Montpellier boss René Girard was focused on the result - rather than the style - after his side beat Tours (L2) 1-0 to make it three wins from three outings in all competitions in 2012 and book a place in the Coupe de France's last 16.
René Girard (Montpellier coach): "It wasn't our best match of the season, that's for sure. But we scored at the right moment. We managed to qualify faced with a strong Tours side, and that was the most important thing. We're on a roll at the moment and not even the absence of seven of our players [on AFCON duty or injured] stopped us from winning."
Peter Zeidler (Tours coach): "We played a good match, but not an excellent one. And to beat Montpelllier, we needed to be excellent. We had the better chances but it was Montpellier who scored from one of their rare opportunities. We were perhaps a bit timid. We got rolling towards the end, but by then it was too late."- http://www.ligue1.com/
