Lille coach Rudi Garcia: We would have liked to win against Stade Rennais but I'm happy with the performance

The former Dijon man stated his side did not play aggressive enough in Sunday's 1-1 draw but is content with Lille's past three displays



Lille coach Rudi Garcia has expressed his emotions in regard to his side’s 1-1 draw away against Stade Rennais, claiming he is happy with his side’s performance.The French champions looked to make it three in three wins, however were pinned back by a resilient home side as Garcia’s men aimed to take advantage in the second half.

“If before playing Lorient we were told we would take seven points out of a possible nine in a week, I think we would have been happy with how it ended considering they were away matches,” said Garcia in his post-match press conference. “I guess it’s better to see things this way, but in the game there we chances for them and for Lille. We missed our chances to get the second goal.”

However, the 48-year-old laments his side’s second half attacking display by stating he would have been pleased with a stronger team-effort. “We didn’t play aggressively enough in the second half, we made their goalkeeper look good but we were unable to score the second goal as we wanted to in the second half.

“We wanted to feel safe with the second goal first but couldn’t. The problem is that we conceded a goal very late in the game, but that’s part of the game. “They gave all they had and there are several positive outcomes today, mathematically it’s rather good but we would have liked to win.” - http://www.goal.com/
