12BET France League News Update 12/22

Auxerre leave it late to make point

Auxerre scored twice in the final ten minutes to snatch a 2-2 draw at home to promoted Dijon. AJA sub Issam Jemaa netted the equaliser in added time.

This Burgundian  basement battle began brilliantly for Benjamin Corgnet and Dijon. A mere seven minutes had elapsed when Dijon top scorer Corgnet notched his seventh of the season, the goal laid on a platter for him by Brice Jovial, who had caused consternation in the home defensive ranks.

Corgnet’s goal made history as the first in a match between the two clubs. Dijon coach Patrice Carteron appreciated that as much as he was furious with the 2-1 home loss to Saint-Etienne in Week 18.
A third away win looked on the cards for Dijon when Jovial scored in the 33rd minute, controlling  a Thomas Guerbert pass on his chest and cracking the ball low past Olivier Sorin.
Auxerre have made public their interest in bringing Djibril Cissé back to the club and how Laurent Fournier’s side needed goals in the second half, having seen their efforts flounder on Dijon’s last line of defence, Baptiste Reynet.

Former Liverpool forward Anthony Le Tallec came on for Auxerre midway through the second half and ten minutes from time Le Tallec gave Fournier’s side hope, heading home a corner which Reynet had come for and missed.Jovial was carried off on a stretcher with what looked like an injured ankle before Auxerre’s equaliser, scored by Jemaa at the back post with Dennis Oliech doing the spade work.
Both Dijon and Auxerre have 19 points, one above the relegation zone at the season’s halfway point.- http://www.ligue1.com
